The Hyacinthus Duo consists of Greek musicians Martha Gkolia and Lydia Kordonia. The duo focuses on performing music from the 20th and 21st centuries. Their programme is full of contemporary, programmatic and contrasting elements. With enthusiasm and love for music, this versatile duo explores the special timbres that the combination of flute and cello has to offer. They make their performances extra special by also using alto and bass flutes.

The Hyacinthus Duo has put together an exciting repertoire with music from the 1950s onwards, composed by artists from all corners of the globe, from Brazil to Japan. In addition to performing existing works, the duo actively seeks out new compositions and works closely with composers to premiere brand new pieces. Much of the music they play is still unknown to the public, which makes for a unique listening experience.

With their repertoire, they strive to share their musical story with the audience in an intimate way. They do this in surprising and diverse ways, so that each show takes on its own meaning.
