After an all‑consuming argument, in which words flew back and forth like bullets, one thing is clear: they must never see each other again. Separate, as quickly as possible. Until the phone rings. Her offer on a new house has been rejected. His rental contract still has six months to run. Leaving is not an option for either of them. They will have to stay where they are. Together. They are forced to re‑examine why they ever chose each other in the first place.
Bijna een leven is a deeply human life story set against a major and highly topical social issue. What remains when the love between two people wears away, but the cost of living alone is higher than the cost of staying together? And how do you choose yourself in a time when everyone is constantly comparing themselves to others?
Toneelgroep Maastricht and Stichting NOX join forces in Bijna een leven. A painfully recognisable love story about the real costs of our time. About patterns and prejudices. And about keeping up the appearance of success, even when it starts to chafe, with leading roles for Sinem Kavus (Golden Calf winner) and Emmanuel Ohene Boafo (Louis d’Or winner).
