After a life full of drink, drugs and men, one of France’s greatest artists died sixty years ago: Edith Piaf. Now, long after her death, her songs are still listened to and sung all over the world. Songs such as Non, je ne regrette rien, La Vie en Rose, Milord and Padam are just a few immortal examples from an impressive repertoire of song

This Dutch musical is about the life and the death of ‘the little sparrow’. Through stories and her unforgettable music, the phenomenal Piaf relives several important moments from her life. She discovers who she was and finds out what it is that she leaves behind.

Edith Piaf has just died. And she is thoroughly confused. This is not what she wanted. This is not what she had ever imagined. She was supposed to die in Paris with a priest at her bedside. Not in some backwater. Newly deceased, the confused Piaf encounters four characters. The Angel. The Devil. The Fool. And Death. Then it becomes clear that her husband Theo Sarapo has listened well to her. He has called an ambulance and tells the driver that Edith is asleep. The journey is long. Almost a thousand kilometres. Piaf insists to her four companions that she is not dead as long as she is not in Paris. And as long as she does not know what she leaves behind. And so, for the duration of the journey to Paris, she is saddled with these four passengers, each of whom has left an indelible mark on her existence. Piaf wants to know where these four were in her life. Through their stories and the unforgettable music of Edith Piaf, the legend relives several important moments in her life in order to discover who she was and to find out what it is that she leaves behind.
