Anthony Sali was born in Macedonia, as a Roma in a society where exclusion and poverty seemed self-evident. As a child, he fled to Western Europe with his family. He slept on the streets, begged for food and had to learn to survive from an early age. But Anthony’s story is not one of victimhood. It is a story of resilience, humour, fatherhood, entrepreneurship and the power of people who truly see you along the way.
In this special edition of Future Citizens, actor Dragan Bakema brings Anthony’s life story to life, accompanied by the music of Oleg Fateev. Mo Hersi is the host of the evening. Together, they take the audience on a compelling and hopeful performance about starting anew, finding your place and helping others to do the same.
An evening full of theatre, music and encounter, about how one life can turn through trust, opportunities and human attention.
