Sjef the Mouse loses his home when his tree is cut down without warning. In a panic, he runs away and finds shelter beneath a log cabin in the forest. Here it is dry and there is even plenty of food. But Beuk the Woodcutter is not happy about this. This cabin is hers! That mouse has to go, at any cost. When Owl suddenly appears as well, the chaos is complete. Beuk, Sjef and Owl become increasingly entangled in their struggle over the forest. But who does that forest really belong to?
Beuk! is a family performance by Kim van Zeben Theaterproducties for everyone aged 4 and up. A physical rollercoaster in which the audience is swept along into a cartoon-like world, full of spectacular chases, fights and comic falls. Slapstick of a high standard, with plenty of throwing and smashing, and things are allowed to break. Above all, however, Beuk! is a moving story about true friendship between human and animal, and their shared love of nature.
Beuk! won the 2024 Zilveren Krekel for most impressive youth theatre production and toured China for a month in the summer of 2025. Beuk! now returns to Dutch theatres.
